Vampire Awareness Month
The month of July is Vampire Awareness Month. It’s a month long, internet celebration on all things vampiric. If you want to know more, then: head here. And in honor of Vampire Awareness Month, here are a few recommendations.
Books
- Dracula by Bram Stoker
- Carmilla by J. Sheridan LeFanu
- The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice (Even though, I’d say stick with the first three)
- The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause (YA)
- The Vampire Book by J. Gordon Melton (Non-Fiction. A touch dated but still good)
- The Dead Travel Fast by Eric Nuzum (Non-Fiction)
- In Search of Dracula by Raymond T. McNally and Radu Florescu (Non-Fiction)
- Vampires: The Occult Truth by Konstantinos (Non-Fiction)
- Hotel Transylvania by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro
- Jessica’s Guide to Dating the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey (YA)
- Forever and the Night by Linda Lael Miller (Vampire romance, but not tacky and was written before vampire romance was the norm)
- The Mammoth Book of Vampire Stories by Women, edited by Stephen Jones (Short Story Collection)
- By Blood We Live, Edited by John Joseph Adams (Short Story Collection)
- Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe (Children’s Book)
- American Vampire by Scott Snyder (Graphic Novel)
- Covenant With the Vampire by Jeanne Kalogridis (New for me, I’m in the middle of reading it and am deeply enjoying it)
- How to be a Vampire by Amy Gray (Children’s and Non-Fiction)
*I will admit, with books, I’m extremely picky. It’s sad, but with the vampire genre, I find more fail than a lot that I actually enjoy*
